A man is not
where he lives, but where he loves. ~Latin Proverb
Welcome to Mi Casa Mi Corazon, (My
Home, My Heart), an architectural and textural experience
that will likely remain with you for many years to come….perhaps
forever! Authentically rendered by master builder Josh Pulliam,
the design by Robert Souva (R.E.S. Design Enterprises, L.L.C.)
was painstakingly envisioned by it’s original owners who are,
themselves, experts at creating stunning homes that are
remarkably common-sense and livable.
Everywhere throughout the home, an
amazing level of detail is present that will continue to
surprise as you take in each room, each ceiling detail, wall
texture, wood application and technology enhancement. The
essence of Old Mexico is artfully conveyed throughout Mi Casa Mi
Corazon in the rich, hand-crafted Alder cabinets, doors and
windows, custom built by one of the Valley’s premier
woodworking craftsmen, Sean Stolle.
Every inch of the home exudes
rustic elegance. From the top of the elliptic arched ceiling in
the 26’ expanse of the round Greatroom, with its centerpiece
wood medallion and crystal chandelier, down to the tasteful way
each room’s floor tiles were laid in a custom manner to reflect
a subtle but individual character of the room, Mi Casa Mi
Corazon is like a great work of art that is always revealing new
surprises.
Kitchen:
The effective design of a good
working kitchen is a talent, but to design one that can still
provide warmth and friendliness is pure art! Mi Casa Mi Corazon
is the ultimate proof of the intelligence of a Greatroom design,
allowing for the kitchen to interact with the rest of the home,
but still maintain its isolation for those times when a kitchen
needs to be a refuge. A 14’ breakfast bar decorated with
delightfully colored hand-painted, glazed Saltillo tile and
sealed travertine stone provides the basis for great
entertaining or just quiet family time. The home’s wet (?) bar
is an island that allows for hosts and guests alike to easily
interact without intruding into the kitchen space. With
beautiful lit glass shelving and seeded glass doors, the bar is
also outfitted with a Subzero bar refrigerator and Scotsman ice
maker that provides
crystal clear, odorless, gourmet ice cubes.
Within the kitchen’s realm, two 36” Subzeros
provide the finest in refrigeration and freezer space. A
beautiful Wolf 60” cook stove features dual energy 6-burner top
with grill and griddle and two ceramic convection ovens, and the
Wolf vent hood above allows for the wildest of cooking events
with minimal intrusion of smoke, odor or sound. The main
cast-iron farm sink, along with the large cast iron island sink
provide for at least two separate work areas for the family who
likes to cook. The splendid center island offers ___ feet of
work space, drawer and shelf space and is tastefully completed
in a fine furniture finish reminiscent of an old-world
farmhouse. A stainless steel, extra large Dacor dishwater,
stainless steel microwave at an optimum working height and a
discreet warming drawer round out the conveniences.
True to its desert roots, each
room of Mi Casa Mi Corazon offers an easy transition from the
interior to the natural outdoors, with tiled patios and
courtyards providing a sanctuary-like transition at every turn.
In the cozy 14x13 breakfast room, two walls of 8’ Alder and
glass, 4-panel doors easily open in concertine fashion to enjoin
the kitchen, Greatroom and outdoor patios virtually into one
living space.
Outdoor Living Spaces:
Outdoors, over 1000 feet of patios provide a fascinating study
of post and beam architecture with high volume spaces to capture
the desert air movement. Along with the tasteful outdoor
furnishings made of the finest all weather fabrics, the patios
are each lined with custom built drapes that can be drawn to
provide protection in summer or winter.
As
the eye finds the desert horizon and the far-away mountain
ranges, so does it also follow the soothing flow of water over
the negative edge of the blue, glass-tiled pool with a very
private 6-person spa below. Various fountains, including the
iconic “Fuente de Ranas” (Fountain of Frogs), provide a
lovely--and lively--ambiance to public or private moments.
Two
large Canterra faced fireplaces, back to back in the
mission-style bell tower, emit a warm ambiance that begs to
entertain, whether for large crowds of 30 or more or just the
two of you. The outdoor kitchen is conveniently located near
the action, and a 60 inch flat screen television is discreetly
tucked behind decorative iron doors. A well-designed outdoor
sound system, patio heaters and built-in misting system complete
the outdoor living experience.
The Homesite:
At nearly 9/10 of an acre, Lot 54
of Shadow Canyon is by far one of the best site selections
available at anytime in the 30-year history of Fountain Hills.
There is no more cherished view than the multi-colored
transitions of the sun over the Superstition Mountains that one
never grows tired of watching or the dawn over 4-Peaks Mountain
that has never looked the same twice. Down below, the shimmer
of the town center and the friendly hourly reminder of the
fountain become a welcome part of your day.
The lot’s topography was smartly
integrated into the design of Mi Casa Mi Corazon so that the
main elements of the home live entirely on one level-- including
the garage that is conveniently located only a few feet from the
utility room and kitchen.
Next door, on Lot #53, the Gorski
Family has preserved the lot in a life estate running with Lot
#52 on which the Gorski Residence sits, thereby protecting an
intrusion of the view from Mi Casa Mi Corazon for the near
future. Regardless, any future home on Lot #53 would provide
minimal diminishing of the view toward the Goldfield Mountains.
The highest part of Lot #54 still
remains natural, with a simple meditation trail that is dimly
lit for evening enjoyment. To the east is a tract of common
area, making up a large portion of the impressive slopes of
Shadow Canyon.
Master Suite:
A truly great relationship with
ones life-mate compels many special moments, and the master
suite of Mi Casa Mi Corazon provides the perfect setting to
create these moments. With an ample sitting area that is
humbled by the massive shadows of the McDowell Mountains, the
cozy fireplace with itsstone façade and working desk space
provide a sanctuary you may never wish to leave. In the master
bath, the owners have duplicated a design that has kept their
marriage strong for decades….a double sided vanity that allows
for morning conversation and separate access to the large wrap
around closet with custom furniture finished shelving, draws and
rod space. The master bath also boasts a stone steam shower and
rustic iron claw-footed tub with stunning nickel claw and
fixture design.
Den – Library
If
your business allows for you to choose any location in the world
to be command central—or even if it doesn’t—the Den / Library of
Mi Casa Mi Corazon provides you the luxury of an office that is
warm, efficient and memorable. In addition to the custom
woodwork artistry of Sean Stolle that features lit display
cabinetry, book cases and the signature executive desk, there is
a hidden closet easily accessible through…you guessed it…a
hinged book case. The closet is set up for complete technology
servicing with fax and copier. The custom wood floors are a
unique find, migrating from a New Zealand sheep’s wool
warehouse. The unique natural luster of the years of lanolin
exposure and the rustic character marks are fun storytelling,
and will be enhanced by the antique photos memorializing the
lineage.
Completing the Upstairs
In
addition to the main living areas, an additional full master
guest suite, generous utility/laundry room and a stunning powder
bath make it entirely possible to live on only one level of Mi
Casa Mi Corazon. The powder room is a showpiece, with
Indonesian furniture and fixtures that harken back many decades
and provide great history! The beautiful wooden hand-carved
vanity is an antique wedding trousseau, and is elegantly topped
by an antique brass vegetable steamer that serves as the vessel
sink. The 4’ hand carved mirror provides backlit ambiance, and
the Saltillo floors and tile wainscoting were a custom, hand
finished tile created specifically for the space. Yes, the
textured flooring is actually a Saltillo tile!
Lower Level Entertainment and
Guest Suites
A theater room is almost a
necessity in today’s modern world. But practical homeowners
would often prefer to enjoy this special room in more than one
manner. Mi Casa Mi Corazon offers a brilliant solution to the
dilemma in a manner that will likely be emulated over and over
again! Downstairs, in what might be known as “the Gentlemen’s
Den” with its rich trophy and display cases and a beautiful
courtesy desk for visitors to utilize, a theater room appears at
the touch of a button when electronic black-out shades and a
theater screen magically transform the room. It is only then
that the state of the art theater and sound system is fully
appreciated—or even noticed!
Look behind the beautiful stained
glass door, and you’re treated to a wine enthusiasts dream! The
850 bottle wine room is not only elegantly finished, it’s also
perfectly chilled to a year-round 58 degrees.
Arizona residents are truly
blessed….and often with guests from Northern climates that grace
our doorstep! Mi Casa Mi Corazon was designed to welcome these
guests with a level of comfort that is not even possible in the
finest hotels. Two full master suites, each with exquisite
furnishings and linens, offer bathrooms with beautiful tile and
stone motifs that each convey a unique and rustic character of
its own, but with the ultimate in luxury refinements.
Garage:
The tandem 4-car garage is separately air-conditioned, removing
the need to worry about automobiles stored in the warm Arizona
summers. Gearheads will appreciate a few goodies that would
make any mechanic jealous, including a central floor drain,
plumbing for service water and compressed air, a commercial work
sink and, of course, a large screen television. Approximately
46 lineal feet of full-height cabinetry provide generous storage
for seasonal household items and sporting goods.
