Part of TEAM VERDE, specializing in Rio Verde, Tonto Verde and the surrounding areas, Margaret Simmons
brings a wealth of experience and background to her clients and customers;
many of them fellow Rio Verde residents, where she has lived since
2000.
Margaret’s business career has spanned two very
successful chapters. Beginning her real estate career in 1988, she
opened her own firm in Santa Fe, New
Mexico in 1990. She is also
a licensed broker in Colorado,
where she and her husband, Mike, own a home in Aspen
and spend their summers.
Prior to her real estate career, Margaret was
one of the original “computer geeks.” She holds a BA in mathematics
from the University
of Houston
and an MA in computer science from the University
of New Mexico.
Previous positions in the computer sciences field have included research in
performance analysis of supercomputers at Los Alamos National Laboratory
and in the Office of Science and Technology Policy in the Executive Office
of the President from 1995-1997, where she participated in the development
of high performance computing policy. She retired in 2000 as Associate
Director of the San Diego Supercomputer Center (part
of the University
of California at
San Diego).
She is the co-author and editor of three books
on performance analysis and parallel computer tools, and in her spare time
she enjoys cooking, snow skiing and golf. She is a member of the Rio
Verde Country Club Women’s Golf Assn golf league and on most days, is
convinced that whoever invented the name golf knew that all the other
four-letter words were already taken.
